Modelling, Mathematical Methods and Computer Simulation of Tumour Growth and Therapy

TUMATHER is a Research Training Network funded by the European Commission under its sixth Framework Programme (HPRN-CT-2004-502661).

Which was the Objective?

The main objective of the Network is to develop mathematical models, algorithms, and computer software for the simulation of multiscale modeling to describe tumour growth and support therapeutic actions.
The activity of the researchers involved in the network brought and is bringing to the development of the whole modeling process from phenomenological observation to simulation and validation, through the design of mathematical models and their qualitative and quantitative study, in order
1- to simulate tumor evolution within the full range of scales, i.e. at the  sub-cellular, cellular and tissue level.
2- to model the action of specific therapies to combat cancer, e.g. control of angiogenic phenomena, activation of the immune response, optimization of therapeutical protocols.
