On 15-16 May 2006 100 experts from all over the world gathered in Brussels to discuss the concept of the Virtual Physiological Human and to start drafting the research road map that will make this visionary concept become a reality.

Particular attention was given to the definition of Scope

This definition aknowledges the complexity associated with biomedical research and suggests that the scope of the EuroPhysiome Initiative is to promote the development of the Virtual Physiological Human, a methodological and technological framework that will enable the investigation of the human body as a single complex system.
