The Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society are planning to publish a two-volume special issue, focused on computational biology tools & applications relevant for physiome-style integrative research.
The two-volume special issue of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A will be edited by Peter Kohl (University of Oxford), Peter Coveney (University College London) and Marco Viceconti (Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli), Consortium Partners for the EU Funded Coordination Action (FP6, #027642) STEP: A Strategy for the Europhysiome which fasted from January 2006 till March 2007.
The planned issue will be focused on computational biology tools & applications relevant for physiome-style integrative research aiming at highlighting state-of-play challenges, and prospects of working towards a Virtual Physiological Human
Who want to contribute?
All the interested teams are invited to submit their proposals so to ensure a valid reflection of the range and depth of STEP-related efforts.
Important dates:
- 18th June, 2007 => Expression of interest (working title, authors, short description of content, any special publication needs with comments in brief to explain the reason for them). Please, write to Katherine Fletcher at University of Oxford.
- 10th July, 2007 => Confirmations (invitation to submit)
- 31st October, 2007 => Submission of manuscripts
The peer-review comments will be returned to authors in November/December 2007. The final revised manuscripts are to be returned four weeks after the reviewers' comments reception - and in any case no later than 1st Febraury, 2008 - along with the reprint permissions for any copyright material.
The journal volumes will probably outcome in October/November 2008, while all the accepted papers will be appear on-line around April, 2008.
