IMAG Futures Meeting 15-16 December

by Tara Chapman last modified 2010-02-18 12:05

Potential impact needs to be proven with successful validated models. Once successful models are widely accepted by non-modelers, VPH and multiscale modelling can effectively permeate into the research communities and eventually translate to medical practice. IMAG is holding an IMAG Futures Meeting to cover exactly this question.

This meeting will be held on December 15-16, 2009 on the NIH Campus, Natcher Conference Center. This meeting will be open to the public to share the discussion of a working group who will deliberate on the impact of biomedical, biological and behavioral modeling. This meeting is an opportunity for IMAG to assess to what extent computational modeling has succeeded or failed to make a difference in the broader research endeavor, and to discuss these issues in the context of current challenges and opportunities for biomedical, biological and behavioral modeling, see meeting Charge(http://www.imagwiki.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=IFM_Charge).

Meeting discussions will be grouped by five biological scales: 1) Population; 2) Whole-Body; 3) Cell-Tissue-Organ; 4) Pathways and Networks; and 5) Atomic and Molecular. Please see the Agenda (http://www.imagwiki.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=IFM_Agenda)

All are invited to participate in this roundtable discussion through webcast and interactive media (http://videocast.nih.gov). Interested members of the community are also welcome to attend in person. Since space is limited, in-person attendance will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please e-mail Ms. Stephanie Sabourin (stephanie.sabourin@nih.gov) to reserve a seat in the meeting room, or register your attendance via webcast.
