Multiscale modelling at WCB2006

by annalisa bandieri last modified 2006-08-16 09:25

During the recent World Congress of biomechanics, held in Munich (DE), a session was devoted to the Physiome Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, with presentations on the Giome Project, the Living Human Project, the Epitheliome project, and the Europhysiome initiative

Beside this special session, which was well attended and raise a significant interest, the entire conference saw a significant increase in the number of presentations that reported the use of multiscale modelling and in general of intergrative approaches.

Two plenary lectures were relevant for the Physiome: "Challenges in Multi-Scale Modelling", given by Peter Hunter, and "The Role of Molecular Mechanics in Intracellular Signalling: Mechanisms and Models", given by Roger Kamm, both members of the Europhysiome advisory board.
