VPH candidate for FET Flagship by Martina Contin — last modified 2010-06-21 17:12
The Future Emerging Technologies (FET) scheme as part of the DG INFSO ICT programme is in the process of setting up the FET Flagship Initiatives, as laid down in the Communication 'Moving the ICT frontiers – a strategy of research on future and emerging technologies in Europe’ (COM (2009) 184) and endorsed by the COMP Council Conclusions of 04/12/2009. As one of the key actions, these communications envisage the launch of at least two of these initiatives by 2013. The "SCIENCE & POLICY FORUM on FET Flagships' Workshop was held in Brussels on 9-10 June 2010, at the Centre Albert Borschette, with the scope of further discuss the consolidated flagship ideas with scientific stakeholders and representatives of national funding agencies.

Call for a VPH FET Flagship All Hands meeting, Barcelona 22nd July 2010 by Ilaria Masinara — last modified 2010-08-09 15:03
This meeting follows a consultation workshop organised in Brussels by the European Commission on 10 June, and it aims to explore funding opportunities under the Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) Flagship initiative. The EC workshop gave many researchers the opportunity to present their proposals, many of which revolved around the idea to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve human health and to better understand human physiopathology. In particular two recurring themes, actually the roots of the European Virtual Physiological Human (VPH), were the use of predictive models and the need for integration into data, information and knowledge.
