The scope of the summer school is to discuss advances and challenges of imaging and processing techniques in biology and medicine. On the basis of selected biomedical problems of multiple scales, the school will demonstrate cutting edge imaging methods (MRI, PET/ SPECT, IR/ OCT, 3D Time-resolved Microscopy, Optical Microscopy/ Fluorescence Microscopy, Single molecule and particle Microscopy, EM, X-ray, etc), explain their possibilities and limitations, and discuss the advantages of combined approaches. In addition, different supporting technologies (Image reconstruction, Image enhancement, Image segmentation, Data management, Quantification and Tracking, Diffusion/ Modelling/ Simulation and Molecular reconstruction, etc) will be introduced and illustrated.
