The BoneMat software assigns to each finite element of a bone mesh an average material property derived from the Hounsfield Unit (HU) of the tissue in that region, as reported in the CT data. The calibration and the density-Young's Modulus relationships should be provided by the user. Two element averaging strategies are available. The average Young's Modulus can be computed though a numerical integration, over each element volume, of the HU scalar field or of an E scalar field firstly derived from the original CT data. |
